14 new bacteria-eating viruses discovered, given Texas-themed names

Yoon Hwang, a research microbiologist assigned to Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio’s Environmental Surveillance Department, has worked to target vancomycin-resistant strains of Enterococcus faecalis, responsible for a variety of serious human infections.

A group of military researchers recently discovered 14 new bacteria-eating viruses, or bacteriophages, and gave them Texas-themed names.
