Alabama medical device company Simparo Surgical recently received its fourth U.S. patent for technology designed to improve thumb joint reconstruction procedures.
The patent, received on June 23, covers a suture-locking mechanism called the Falcon Suture Clutch. The device addresses challenges in a surgical procedure to treat severe arthritis or instability at the base of the thumb where the metacarpal bone meets the trapezium in the wrist known as thumb CMC reconstruction, according to a news release.
