Asking Eric: My friend's son won't stop texting me since my husband died

Dear Eric: A same-age friend of mine has a grown, married son who lives out of town. He and his wife are very gregarious, interesting and kind. They have in the past asked to visit when they were in town. That seemed to work out just fine.
