Bessemer mayors battle in court over when one term ends and another begins

Like Birmingham in the 1960s, Bessemer currently has two sets of city leaders claiming the authority to run the town.

In the 60s, it was Bull Connor and the city commission refusing to leave office in the Magic City. This time, in the Marvel City, it’s outgoing Mayor Kenneth Gulley refusing - at the moment - to vacate his office.
