BigXthaPlug – Better Over Time

BigXthaPlug’s Better Over Time album was released by Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug on Friday, October 30, through UnitedMasters. The 18-track project plants him firmly back in Southern rap, one year after the country-leaning detour that put him on two charts at once.

The guest list spans rap, R&B, and pop. Leon Thomas rides with him on “NO LIMIT,” Ava Max joins the single “BURN,” and GloRilla, Lil Yachty, Babyface Ray, Loe Shimmy, Ro$ama, Belly Gang Kushington and Fridayy all check in across the tracklist.

The return is significant. I Hope You’re Happy, released in August 2025, debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200 while also reaching #2 on both the Country and Rap album charts. Better Over Time leaves the country features behind entirely — there is not one on the album — and goes back to the Texas rap sound that made him Dallas’ breakout voice. Apple Music’s editors hear the shift too, describing a record that grounds his drawl in soul samples and tight rhyme schemes.

The rollout unfolded publicly. “LITE,” featuring Belly Gang Kushington, arrived as the lead single, and “BURN” followed as the second, with an official video directed by BigX and his longtime collaborator Jerry Morka — a chapter of this rollout HYPE covered earlier this month. Ahead of release night, BigX previewed the album at private listening sessions paired with short film screenings in Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Miami and Los Angeles. Dallas hosted the first exclusive early listen on October 26 at a Cinemark theater.

The album’s sequencing highlights this return to form. The record opens with the brief “STAND ON BUSINESS,” stacks its collaborations through the middle — “BELIEVE” pairs Babyface Ray with Lil Yachty, and “FAF” brings in GloRilla — and closes on the solo cut “ONE.”
