CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A project that aims to give new meaning to one of Charlottesville’s most controversial monuments is moving into its next stage, with organizers selecting a nationally recognized architecture firm and an acclaimed sculptor to create a public artwork from the bronze of the city’s former Robert E. Lee statue, 29news.com reported. The effort, known as Swords Into Plowshares, will produce an installation called “Rooted.”
