Court shuts down Alabama Mexican restaurant over unpaid sales taxes

A Colbert County circuit judge has ordered the permanent closure of Sergio’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant & Bar Grill, LLC, after the business failed to pay sales taxes owed to state and local governments.

Circuit Judge Mitchell D. Hays issued the injunction on June 30, following a June 23 hearing at which representatives for the restaurant, despite being served with legal notice on May 12, failed to appear, according to court documents.
