Tua Tagovailoa will start the Atlanta Falcons’ preseason opener vs. the Denver Broncos on Friday night, the team announced.
The Falcons released their first preseason depth chart on Wednesday, listing the former Alabama starter as the first-team quarterback. Former first-round pick Michael Penix continues to recover from a knee injury suffered late in the 2025 season and has not yet been cleared for contact, leaving Tagovailoa as the starter with veteran Cooper Rush and rookie free agent Jack Strand backing him up.
