Homewood advances plan for 280-space Samford parking lot despite opposition from residents

The Homewood Planning Commission on Wednesday voted 6-1 to recommend approval of Samford University’s proposed 280-space parking lot along Shelburne Lane despite strong opposition from neighboring residents.

Neighbors living along Saulter Road packed the meeting room to voice their concerns over flooding, tree removal, noise, light pollution and traffic safety.
