Ivey seeks major disaster declaration for Alabama to receive FEMA Hurricane Isaias aid

Mobile police and city officials gathered with residents on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, to bag sand outside the Mobile Police Department's First Precinct office on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, Ala. The effort was held in advance of the arrival of Hurricane Isaias, which is expected to make landfall on Friday night, Oct. 9, 2026, and impact the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey is seeking assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias.
