Korean company offers $1 billion for Alabama-based shipbuilder

A Korean company is proposing to pay more than $1 billion in cash for Austal USA, an Australian-owned, Mobile-based shipyard in the middle of aggressive plans to expand its workforce from 3,000 to 5,000.
