South Alabama’s 2026 softball season ended with a 1-0, eight-inning loss to Akron in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional on Saturday.
The third-seeded Jaguars (32-27) and fourth-seeded Zips (35-24) played to a scoreless tie in regulation before Akron plated the game’s only run on Delaney Jenkinson’s solo homer in the top of the eighth. South Alabama loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning, but Ansleigh Smith grounded out to third to end the game.
