A medical study published this week revealed that a shockingly high number of former NFL players suffered from the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy at time of their deaths.
The study, conducted by the British Medical Journal and first reported on by The New York Times, examined the cases of 878 former pro football players who died from 2016-21. Of the deceased — some of whom died as young as in their 20s — a whopping 215, or 24.5%, were revealed to have been suffering from CTE.
