Weird Genius Summarize a Decade of Musical Journey Through “ALBUM.”

Weird Genius ALBUM debut Genius introduces their debut album titled “ALBUM.”, a work that encapsulates their musical foundation and creative journey over the past decade. Through this album, the trio consisting of Reza “YB” Oktovian, Eka Gustiwana, and Roy Leonard (RoyCDC) bring the spirit of exploration that has long defined their identity into their work.

Reza Oktovian, Eka Gustiwana, Roy CDC; the three now known as Weird Genius started making music together in 2016 and have been striking with gold on every release. With each year they have continued to grow, with 2020 seeing their breakout hit crossing internationally, achieving more than 200 million plays combined and breaking the hometown record for longest #1 on Spotify. The track landed at #2 on Spotify’s Global Viral chart, following a collaboration with Dutch dance icons Yellow Claw and more.

The choice of the title “ALBUM.”, complete with a period at the end, is a simple decision with a straightforward statement. After releasing various singles, Weird Genius has, for the first time, united their musical foundation in an album format. This work serves as a space to showcase their perspective on music, life’s journey, and the possibilities they still wish to explore.

Behind “ALBUM.” lies a reflection on life, which is frequently measured by achievements. Questions about jobs, goals, and how far one has progressed often arise even when the journey has just begun. Weird Genius responds to this pressure with a message to keep room for curiosity, try new things, and change direction when discovering something worth fighting for. This is reflected in how Weird Genius’s creative process producing songs and other works always stems from their own hands without excessive interference from outside parties.

This spirit is also embodied by the “Dandelion,” which serves as the visual identity of the album. Its lightweight seeds carried by the wind symbolize Weird Genius’s music moving across national borders, genres, and cultures. Wherever those seeds land, there is always the potential to grow. For Weird Genius, this imagery reflects resilience, endurance, and adaptability throughout their musical journey.

Summarizing a decade of their musical journey, “ALBUM.” features a mix of emerging names alongside well-established musicians. The collaborators involved are Jessy Alexa, Danilla Riyadi, Cosmo Kent, Novia Bachmid, Trust Orchestra, Pepita, Kamga, Bloodlyne, Guraisu, and Emily Sie. The album also features two former Weird Genius members, Billy Taner and Gerald Liu.

The four standout tracks of the album are “Metronome” ft. Jessy Alexa, “Mother” ft. Pepita, “Satu” ft. Billy Tanner & Cosmo Kent, and “Lantai 4” ft. Danilla Riyadi. This unconventional combination of lead tracks portrays the entirety of the 19-track list, showcasing strengths in creativity, character, and the personal stories behind them.

“ALBUM.” by Weird Genius is available on all DSPs, and its premiere performance can be enjoyed via live streaming on Weird Genius’s account on October 30, 2026. Listen to the album here.
