The City of Chelsea is considering implementing a new property tax to fund its own police department amid public safety changes.
On Monday, Oct. 5, the city held a public hearing to explain why the proposal was made and listen to feedback from residents. Chelsea does not currently have a city property tax; this would be a first of its kind for residents.
