From 40 students in 1989 to 250 today, the Sound of the Eastern Shore has become one of Alabama's most ambitious band programs (127 chars)

After months of sweltering summer practices, the Sound of the Eastern Shore finally catches a break from the heat on a late Thursday afternoon.

The cooler temperatures, however, don’t buy the band any extra time.
