Half the world could be nearsighted by 2050. UAB researchers may have found a way to help

Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham are studying ways to prevent myopia, or nearsightedness from developing in children.

With the rise in technology use and less time spent outdoors, researchers project that half of the world’s population could be myopic, or nearsighted, by 2050.
