Trump’s $5,000 pledge was a surprise to lawmakers, Alabama Republican says

President Donald Trump’s announcement that U.S. adult would receive a $5,000 dividend if Republicans retain control of Congress was the first many of the lawmakers heard of it, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong, R-Monrovia, said.
